Shabaash Mithu: Taapsee Pannu SLAMS A Publication For Calling Mithali Raj ‘Former’ Team India Cricketer: ‘Exactly The Reason This Film Needs To Be Made’
Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu has started prepping for her upcoming film Shabaash Mithu, in which she will be playing the role of a cricketer. The film is a biopic on the life of cricketer Mithali Raj, and Taapsee has been sharing several pictures from her practice sessions, giving fans glimpses of her training for the film. Taapsee is leaving no stones unturned to make sure she does justice to her role in the film. Recently, she reacted to a news report by a publication, that referred to Mithali Raj as a ‘former’ Team India cricketer, and slammed them for the error.

Taapsee Pannu took to her Twitter account, and reacted to a news article which called Mithali Raj a ‘former’ cricketer. Responding to that, Taapsee set the record straight and informed that Mithali Raj is still the captain of the women’s cricket team that is going for the upcoming World Cup. She further wrote that this lack of awareness about women in sports is exactly why biopics like these should be made. “You do realise she is still the captain of the Indian women’s cricket team that’s going for the upcoming World Cup. Exactly the reason why this film NEEDS TO BE MADE ! ‘Former’!!! #ShabaashMithu,” tweeted Taapsee.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Mid-Day, Taapsee Pannu spoke about being roped in for the film Shabaash Mithu. “I was roped in because Mithali and I have similar life approach and ideologies. We don’t want to replicate the look to the tee. We want to make it as convincing as possible, but it’s not as important to look like her as it is to perform and behave like her.” ALSO READ: Talking Point: Should Rihanna Have Spoken On India’s Internal Matter?
